| This rectangular Pine casket is similar to those used at Trappist funerals. Because we lead simple lives of work and prayer, trusting that death is a natural part of God's plan, we bury our brothers with reverence and simplicity in plain caskets that look very similar to this one. Some of the Pine we use is taken from our own award-winning 1200 acre forest. Constructed by hand using smooth, edge-glued panels, it takes nearly two days of careful attention to complete each of these caskets, which are also available in Oak. They are finished with two coats of clear lacquer to protect the wood and bring out its natural Pine grain. |

| This casket is frequently used both as a presentation casket and cremation casket. Like all our caskets, this one includes a natural muslin-upholstered interior, mattress, pillow, and an adjustable bed. This casket comes with a two-piece, screw down lid and six custom made solid brass handles. It can be adorned with a raised wooden cross on the lid at no additional cost. Before being shipped to its destination, each casket is personally blessed by one of the monks here at New Melleray Abbey and knowing that it has been prayerfully constructed on the grounds of our monastery is a source of comfort and consolation to bereaved families and friends. Our caskets meet or exceed industry standards for strength and size, and all models will fit into a standard size burial vault. By law, all funeral homes must accept any casket chosen by the family without incurring any additional charges. We have found most funeral homes are very receptive to Trappist Caskets. Custom Engraving Trappist Caskets offers custom engraving to enable families to personalize a wooden casket or cremation urn by including a loved one's name, and significant dates.
