Handcrafted Simple Shaped Pine Caskets
This traditional style coffin, still popular in Europe, is not easy to find in the United States. We at Trappist Caskets are pleased to make it available to our customers. Beautiful in its simplicity, this casket, which is also available in Oak, is reminiscent of times past when simple, unadorned caskets were made by hand with moderation and economy in mind. That tradition continues here at Trappist Caskets where we have been building our own coffins by hand for over 150 years whenever one of our brothers dies. As monks, we believe that work is a form of prayer and our approach to manual labor sets Trappist Caskets apart from those that are mass-produced because our caskets reflect our values and way of life. Before being shipped to its destination, each casket is personally blessed by one of the monks of New Melleray Abbey, and knowing that that they are built on the grounds of a monastery is a source of comfort and consolation to our customers because of the spiritual message they convey.

Casket Dimensions
It is our mission at Trappist Caskets to build high quality products at affordable prices. Pine is valued for its traditional simplicity and general usefulness, and this casket reflects the same meticulous care that is taken to craft our premium Trappist Caskets. It's been carefully milled and then fashioned by hand by our monks and their staff of trained artisans.
As with all Trappist Caskets, this one includes a natural muslin-upholstered interior, pillow, mattress, and adjustable bed, and comes with a two-piece screw down lid and six custom-made solid brass handles. A two-coat clear lacquer finish protects the coffin and enhances the natural beauty of its Pine grain. It can be adorned with a raised wooden cross on the lid at no additional cost.
Custom Engraving
Custom Engraving is available at an additional cost enabling families to personalize caskets with a loved one's name and significant dates. Religious symbols or images, prayers, blessings, poems, or quotations can also be engraved.
Casket Blessing
Knowing that all caskets purchased with crosses are constructed in the prayerful environment of New Melleray Abbey and personally blessed by one of the monks is often a source of comfort and consolation to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one.
